The Virgin Mary Appears in Silhouette in Miami, Florida

The Holy Family Appear in Chapel
I first heard of this miracle from a person I was speaking with on the phone right from that parish (St. Brendan's in South Miami) last Friday September 21. When I returned home after work, another acquaintance had emailed me a story about the Virgin Mary's manifestation on a tablecloth in the Blessed Sacrament Perpetual Adoration Chapel at the said church, along with a dozen photos of the phenomenon.

The Miami Herald Article
The next morning at work I saw and read the following article in the local paper, the Miami Herald (This is only an extract):

ST. BRENDAN IN WESTCHESTER
Holy apparition in eyes of beholders
A silhouette on a tapestry at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Westchester is drawing throngs of people who believe it is an apparition of Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus.

Hundreds lined up outside a Westchester chapel Friday to see it for themselves: the silhouette of the Holy Family projected mysteriously onto a white tapestry.

“It gave me goose bumps,” Samuel Rosario said as he left the chapel at St. Brendan Catholic Church, cellphone in hand. “I had to come and see it. It's a miracle.”

Since first appearing late Wednesday, the shadow at St. Brendan has drawn long lines.

Parents clutching rosaries and camcorders. Schoolchildren in their uniforms. The aged. Worshipers from as far away as the Keys.

Officials at the church won't say whether they believe the Virgin Mary has appeared, but they're thrilled by the turnout.

“What the people see, that's up to their interpretation,” said Father Fernando Heria of St. Brendan, at 8725 SW 32nd St. “What's important is the awakening in people's hearts. Thousands of people have come through the doors of our little chapel. As a priest, what more can I ask for?”

Later, in the afternoon, I decided to go and check out the marvelous event at the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel myself. When I got there, there were throngs of people lined up to see the miracle. One of the three or four people present when the figures first appeared at 11:30 in the evening, on Wednesday, September 19th, was now acting as a security guard to maintain order among the crowds. He instructed us that the pastor encouraged the people to pray the Rosary while waiting to get in the chapel. Our immediate group of people started to pray the Rosary in Spanish and English. One hour and forty minutes later, we were inside the chapel, contemplating the awesome sight before us. Although the Miami Herald writer claims the images are formed by shadows from the lighted Vigil light, I could not really make any connection between the two things. The grayish sketches of the Holy Family appeared to have no natural source or explanation.

It is interesting to note that a monstrance embroidered in the tablecloth, the Host part appears right over the heart area of the Virgin Mary, as if to say Jesus and Mary beat with one single Heart, and Her only desire is to lead the faithful to adore Her Son present in all the tabernacles of the world. Also, that the Holy Family appears together may be Heaven's way of desperately trying to save the families by getting them to pray together. The family that prays together stays together!

If you wish to go and see this wonderful thing that has come to pass, St. Brendan's Catholic Church is located at 8725 SW 32nd St. For directions, call the church at 305-221-0881.
